Start with “I’ve chosen picture number ….”
Make an introduction. You can take this as an example:
Photography is my hobby. I take pictures whenever I can. I bring my camera everywhere and I often have a chance to use it.
Describe when and where you took the chosen photo. For example:
Look at this picture. It was taken last summer. As you can see, it was a quiet evening in the village. We went to visit my aunt.
Describe the people and objects in the photo
Well, this picture shows my aunt working. In the background there is a garden of trees. In the foreground there are her gardening tools.
Describe what is happening.
I want to mention that the general atmosphere in the picture is positive. My aunt is planting a tree in her garden. In general, she likes gardening. And here at this moment she is digging the ground and she is smiling. You can see that she is wearing a checked shirt and working gloves.
Say why you keep this photo in your album
The first reason why I keep this photo in my album is special memories which it evokes. We laughed a lot with my aunt on that day and we enjoyed ourselves.
Besides, I want to have as many relatives’ pictures in my album as possible because I’m moving to another city to study and I won’t see them so often in near future.
In addition, this picture is perfect from artistic point of view, it has the right colours and perspective – it shows my photographic skills.
Say why you show this picture to your friend.
I decided to show this photo to you as I wanted you to share the happy moments of my life.
Moreover, I have told you a lot of stories about my aunt and here is a chance to see what she looks like.
Finally, I know you are fond of gardening and a picture of this activity can be of great interest for you.
Make a conclusion. For example,
In conclusion I want to say that this photo is one of my favourite, I’ m really proud of it and I hope you’ll appreciate it too.
Imagine that these are photos from your album. Choose one photo to present to your friend. You will have to start in 1,5 minutes and will speak for not more than 2 minutes (12-15 sentences). In your talk remember to speak about:
where and when the photo was taken
what/who is in the photo
what is happening
why you keep the photo in your album
why you decided to show the picture to your friend
You have to talk continuously, starting with:
“I’ve chosen photo number…”
Make an introduction. For example:
There are different ways how people have meals. I’m going to compare and contrast these two pictures about meals.
Give a brief description of the photos. For example:
The first picture shows a big and probably close-knit family having their meal together in their dining-room. In picture number 2 there are just two people, they might be a couple – a husband and a wife. They are having a snack – perhaps, fast food. They are at their home, I guess.
Say what the pictures have in common
On the one hand, these two pictures have similarities. To begin with, both pictures depict eating habits. Moreover, we can see that the people are enjoying themselves in both pictures. We can draw such a conclusion from their smiling faces. Another similarity is the casual clothes the people have on in both pictures, it means they are not eating out.
Say in what way the pictures are different
On the other hand, some differences catch our attention. First of all, the contrast is in quality of food. The first picture shows home-made healthy food while the second meal is fast food which is widely considered to be unhealthy. Second, the family is having a proper meal at the table which is laid, there are wine glasses and porcelain dishes, knives and forks on the table. Whereas the couple is having chopsticks and paper boxes instead of cutlery and plates. In addition it is worth mentioning that the family are helping each other while dining, they are passing the dishes to each other. But the young people in picture 2 are not sharing the food as each of them has their own pack of fast food.
Say which of the …….. you’d prefer, explain why
Frankly speaking, I’d prefer a healthy meal with a lot of relatives. There are some reasons for that. The first reason is the opportunity to feel the welcoming atmosphere of a big family. Another reason is that home-made food is more beneficial for your health. The last but not the least, having young relatives at the table helps to keep the traditions in the family, which is very important as I see it.
Make a conclusion. For example,
In conclusion I want to say that there can be different opinions on the subject. Tastes differ.
